Knighton Action Group

An initial meeting was held at the Offa's Dyke Centre in Knighton. The meeting was called to encourage local people to consider standing as candidates for the Town Council elections in May 2017.  Over 50 people attended the meeting. We heard from Councillor Colin Kirkby of Presteigne Town Council about the achievements in Presteigne in developing new environmental and community projects and from Councillor Bob Andrews, Deputy Mayor of Presteigne about the practical demands of being a town councillor.

The group then identified some of the key issues for Knighton.

It has been decided to run a publicity campaign to encourage people to stand for the Council, with another open meeting in January 2017 to enable more candidates to come forward. It was also decided to form a group to support the candidates and to campaign for radical improvements in Knighton.
